The first rule of introvert club

I'm

Jonni

I'm a transpersonal psychologist with 35 years of experience interpreting what's actually happening under the surface. The patterns, timing, dreams, relationships, and  stuff that doesn't make sense until it suddenly does.
I write here the way I work: deep, direct, and more interested in what's true than what sounds comforting.

The first rule of introvert club is that there is no introvert club.

We tried to organize one. Nobody came. It was perfect.

I say this as a card-carrying introvert. (My card’s in my wallet, at home, where no one can see it.) And I bring it up this week because everything in the air right now is doing what we introverts have been recommending all along.

The world is going inward, whether it likes it or not

This is one of those weeks where the noise gets harder, and the quiet gets richer.

Talking things out in real time, whether that’s fast, out loud, & on the spot, feels a little clumsy right now. Words come out sideways. Points get stepped on. And the conversation you meant to have isn’t quite the conversation that happens.

But the inner channel is wide open. I’m talking about reflection, memory, intuition, the slow private turning-over of things. This is a season that rewards the written note over the crowded meeting. The 3 am ah-ha moment over the noon performance. The processing you do in your own words, in your own time.

In other words, the extroverts are getting a taste of what we’ve known all along. That it’s often the room that gets in the way.

Let me tell you how I learned this

I saw clients in person for… almost fifteen years. And I didn’t not love it. The space, the shared air, the tissue box on the little table. (If you remember, you remember.) It’s the way I was trained, and there’s real medicine in sitting knee-to-knee with someone.

But somewhere along the way, I noticed the deepest moments where something actually shifted almost never happened because of the room. And usually, they happened despite it. They happened in between. In the sentence someone worked up the courage to say right as the clock ran out, and the session had to end.

The clock. Ya, that’s another thing. The fifty-minute container that starts whether you’re ready or not and ends whether you’re finished or not. So much of the real material would happen at minute forty-eight, and we’d have to fold it back up and wait until the next time.

So I changed everything. I moved to phone and voice-only sessions without a camera, the performance of being okay, and without arranging how you look. And then I built the thing I’d been wanting the whole time. I call it UNLIMITED.

What UNLIMITED actually is

It’s support that asks you to go absolutely nowhere.

There’s no appointment to dread all day. Definitely no camera or “you’re on mute.” There’s no small talk before the real talk. Just you and your own words written whenever the words actually show up. 6am. 11pm. That oddly specific 3:47pm moment that hits you while you’re vacuuming.

And I’m on the other end, reading closely, and writing back, properly and thoroughly as someone who’s actually thinking about you. Because I am.

You stay home, in your sweatpants or pyjamas, even. You stay you. And you end up feeling more accompanied than you ever did in “the room”.

Yup, it turns out the introverts were onto something.

The belief that won’t survive this week

“If I’m not doing it out loud, in real time, face to face, it doesn’t really count.”

It counts. And sometimes it counts more.

We’ve absorbed this idea that connection has to be performed live, visible, synchronous, with everyone’s faces in little boxes. That if you needed to go away and find your words first, you somehow did it wrong.

But some of us think in ink, not in speech. Some of us need the pause and privacy, and the permission to not have our face speaking for us. That’s not a lesser way to connect. For a great many people, it’s the only way the real thing ever comes out.

This week especially, with everything pulling inward, honour how you actually process. There’s no need to apologize for needing quiet. So, stop forcing yourself into rooms that were built for a different nervous system than yours.

Why this matters

I didn’t build UNLIMITED as a clever product. I built it out of my own nature and out of a discovery I couldn’t unsee.

Depth doesn’t need a room. It doesn’t need the ticking clock, the scheduled hour, or the camera light. It needs attention and someone genuinely thinking about you. And it needs enough space and safety for the truth to surface in its own time, which is almost never on a schedule, and almost always when you’re finally alone enough to hear yourself.

This week, the whole sky is making that case for me. Go inward. Write it down. Take the pressure off the performance and put it back on the truth.

You don’t even have to talk to me to find out more. I know. I designed it that way.

P.S. UNLIMITED comes in 7, 30, or 90 days. Your side is always open (24/7). Mine answers every single day, dawn to 9pm, usually within minutes. Just you and me, your words and mine, no camera or clock. It’s all on the site. (You really don’t have to speak to a single soul to sign up. You’re welcome.)

P.P.S. If you came to the introvert club meeting and found the room empty, haha, that was the meeting. You passed.
