Last week, we completely ripped down our wrap-around deck. All 900 square feet of it. We could have kept it going. Patched a few boards here and there, repainted the railing. It wasn’t falling apart, but it was… done. Tired. And it (and us) were ready for something else.
So instead of maintaining what no longer fit, we tore it down to the bones. And now I’ve designed something new with three zones instead of one long stretch, each with its own purpose.
Six weeks out of hip surgery, Blake’s been giving that new joint a serious workout hauling lumber and framing, and always with a chainsaw close by. (The man seriously does not believe in “taking it easy.”) We can’t wait for spring when we’ll actually get to sit out there.
The way I see it is sometimes you can keep something going a little longer. And sometimes “a little longer” is just delaying the inevitable demolition.
This is one of those months.
Here’s what’s coming
Eclipse season officially begins in two weeks and runs through mid-March. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like when life decides to fast-track your growth, whether you asked for it or not, you’re about to find out.
But remember, eclipses aren’t punishment as much as efficiency.
If there’s a conversation you’ve been avoiding, it might find you. If there’s a door you’ve been holding open out of habit, it might close. Think about a decision you’ve been sitting on for months, maybe years. It could suddenly be unavoidable. And once you make it, you’ll wonder why you waited so long.
So consider the next six weeks one of the most life-enhancing periods you can move through, but only IF you understand what’s happening. If you don’t, it can feel like chaos. Like things are being taken from you. Like the ground won’t stay still.
But when you see it clearly with the redirections, endings, and sudden openings, you can stop bracing and start cooperating. It’s support.
And, I promise you, that shift in perspective changes everything.
What to expect this week
The energy right now is intense, charged, and a little unpredictable. It’s like the atmosphere before a big storm. I’m talkin’ electric, restless, and full of potential.
Things that have been stalled can start moving again… but maybe in directions you didn’t expect. Flashes of insight might land out of nowhere. Truly brilliant ideas and surprising information. The kind of clarity that makes you sit up straight. Some people will love this. Others might feel mentally overloaded, like there’s too much input and not enough time to process.
If that’s you, take heart because the buzzy, overstimulated feeling will start to soften soon. The mind quiets, and intuition takes over. You move from thinking your way through to feeling your way through, which is better preparation for what’s coming anyway.
The belief that won’t survive this month
“I can keep this going a little longer.”
You know the thing I’m talking about. 😉 Maybe it’s the situation you’ve been managing instead of addressing. Or the relationship you’ve been tolerating instead of transforming. It’s probably the version of yourself you’ve outgrown but keep dragging forward because starting over sounds exhausting.
Well, just so you know, eclipse season has a way of making “a little longer” suddenly unavailable.
Not cruelly, but definitely efficiently. The things that are meant to stay will stay, and the things that aren’t will exit, sometimes dramatically, or quietly, but always with a clarity that only arrives in hindsight.
So, what have you been keeping on life support that’s ready to be released?
You probably already know. I bet you’ve probably known for a while.
Why this matters
In all the years I’ve been doing this work, I’ve never felt a February quite like this one. The concentration of major shifts happening this month is unusual, and I don’t say that lightly. Grand designs and personal visions are being tested for their day-to-day viability. In other words, what sounds good in theory is about to meet what actually works in practice.
That’s not a threat. Nope. It’s an invitation to get honest.
So, the question isn’t whether change is coming. It’s whether you’ll move with it or get dragged by it. And the difference between those two experiences usually comes down to one thing: awareness.
When you understand what’s happening and why, you stop reacting emotionally and start responding with trust. You recognize the redirections as course corrections, the endings as clearing, and the sudden openings as exactly what you asked for, just not in the packaging you expected.
That’s what I want for you this month. Not ease, but clarity. Not control, but cooperation.
Jonni
P.S. I’m spending February creating something I plan to launch on March 1st. I haven’t announced it yet, but I can feel its shape now because it’s something designed specifically for this moment, especially for the people who want support moving through eclipse season with intention instead of anxiety.
