Sometimes, we need to understand the timing of our experiences, not just to survive them, but to recognize their role in our soul's journey. Because understanding your soul's timing makes sense of the past, helps you in the present, AND prepares you for the transformations ahead.

When the universe sends you to time-out (literally)

I'm a transpersonal psychologist with 35 years of experience interpreting what's actually happening under the surface. The patterns, timing, dreams, relationships, and  stuff that doesn't make sense until it suddenly does.
I write here the way I work: deep, direct, and more interested in what's true than what sounds comforting.

So, here’s a thing about divine timing – sometimes, it has a sense of humour.

Remember last week when I told you about my out-of-this-world conversation with my future self? Well, the evening of my birthday, I had an equally significant (though considerably less comfortable) conversation with my hardwood floor.

One moment I was sitting on my sofa, the next I was making friends with gravity in a way that resulted in two cracked ribs. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. Now, every breath becomes a mindful practice and every movement is a lesson in presence. (There are easier ways to learn these lessons, yes?)

But what’s fascinating to me about this forced pause, this literal “time out,” came exactly as we’re witnessing massive shifts in our collective experience. Have you been following the news? Between the extreme weather patterns, global tensions, and leadership changes, it feels like everything is accelerating and pausing simultaneously.

And that’s exactly what I want to talk about.

There’s a pattern to all of this, from my unexpected meeting with the floor to the bigger events that are unfolding around us. These aren’t random coincidences. They’re part of what I call soul timing patterns which is the sacred rhythms that govern both your personal journeys and the collective experience.

I mean, we’re all feeling this strange dance between stop and go, aren’t we? Some areas of life are rushing forward and others seem mysteriously held in suspension. That’s because our souls operate on their own divine timeline which is intricately woven with natural cycles, cosmic rhythms, and yes, even the occasional face-plant that forces you to slow down and breathe (carefully, in my case).

I’ve spent decades mapping these patterns, watching how personal growth cycles align with universal rhythms, how life’s transitions – both the gentle ones and the face-first ones – carry their own perfect timing and purpose.

Right now, as I take these careful, mindful breaths (11 days later, and each one is a bit easier), I’m seeing how even this “pause” has its purpose in the bigger pattern.

And I’m reminded of something I’ve learned through years of pattern work: Sometimes, we need to understand the timing of our experiences, not just to survive them, but to recognize their role in our soul’s journey. Because understanding your soul’s timing makes sense of the past, helps you in the present, AND prepares you for the transformations ahead.

For now, I’ll be here, breathing mindfully and dancing (very carefully) with divine timing,

Jonni
