The body doesn’t lie, especially when something new is about to begin.
It’s been a curious week over here. I’ve just been diagnosed with shingles. Again.
A second strain in the same month.
It sounds dramatic (it is a little), but it’s not dangerous. Just uncomfortable, humbling, and, if I’m paying attention, undeniably intelligent. The kind of thing the body does when the inhabitant (that’s me) is being asked to notice something louder than the symptoms but quieter than the noise of life.
The body doesn’t lie, and when it repeats itself this clearly, it’s not trying to scare me. It’s trying to prepare me that something’s shifting under the surface. For all of us.
So, I will say this: We’ve entered a new rhythm. It’s the kind that changes the why behind our what now. And it affects how we move forward, not in theory, but in embodiment.
This is the season where the soul doesn’t just ask what you’re ready to grow into. It asks what you’re ready to be responsible for. It asks what you’re ready to live with consistency, not just in thought, but in practice.
And I swear the body hears that question before the mind does.
When the next version of you needs your full attention
I believe the soul speaks in layers of synchronicity, through relationship, and often, (especially lately), through the body. It’s not meant to punish, but to partner.
My second shingles flare feels less like “something went wrong” and more like something’s arriving, and your system needs to be reoriented to hold it.
It’s as if my old wiring couldn’t run the voltage of the new clarity coming in. So, my body slowed the signal down and gave me time. It created an enforced pause so I wouldn’t override what’s being asked of me next.
And I think this might be happening in your world too, in your own way.
You might feel it as tiredness that has no obvious source. Or a pressure to change that isn’t coming from fear but from integrity. Or maybe it’s a call to grow, but also to grow up in some area of life that can’t be procrastinated anymore.
The bottom line is it’s a shift in what you’re willing to tolerate. Think of it as a new discernment in what you say yes to, and a realization that your energy is no longer available for anything that isn’t part of your deeper alignment.
And the wild thing is… that’s a good thing.
This isn’t about adding more. It’s about honouring what’s already true.
We tend to think of transitions as upheavals, but this one is quieter. It’s the kind that doesn’t blow the doors off your life, but, instead, starts rearranging the furniture of your inner world. One piece at a time.
What I’m learning (again) is that we’re not always meant to charge ahead when we feel the urge to “level up.” Sometimes, we’re meant to listen differently and feel what’s being cleared. To honour what our body already knows, even if we haven’t quite caught up with it yet.
So, I thought of some questions to get you thinking/feeling about what that means for you.
What part of you is speaking more loudly than usual?
What signal are you receiving that you haven’t yet acknowledged?
And what if your body isn’t betraying you but trying to reintroduce you to your soul?
Yes, I can put them in even simpler terms.
Where are you feeling it most right now?
What keeps tugging at you under the noise?
What might happen if you stopped pushing through, and started listening instead?
You don’t need to decode it all right now, but please don’t dismiss it either. The messages don’t get quieter just because we do. And stillness is the only way they can reach us.
For now, I’m sending you spaciousness and gentleness.
