No drama this time, please 🌪️🫨

2024 • February 1, 2024

February is rolling in with a little extra flair and a sprinkle of extra sparkle, thanks to it being a leap year. That means we’re gifted with a ‘bonus day’ to play – although it lands on a Thursday, so maybe it’s more of a work-play hybrid?

Still, I think it’s interesting how our calendar cheekily tucks in an extra 24 hours, like a secret pocket of time we get to discover only every four years. Welcome back to ‘The Time Traveller’s Life’ – your indispensable guide to harmonizing with the universe’s ever-evolving tempo. There’s a whole world of wonders to unravel, and honestly, one extra day this month might just be the tip of the iceberg.

Speaking of discovering, I’m taking a cue from this leap-year calendar quirk and going on my own little adventure tomorrow until mid-March. I’m hitting pause on the usual hustle and attempting a redo of a holiday I tried last year but was thwarted by ‘Severe Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle’ and a 6.1 earthquake on day 3 of my holiday. (Yes, I took an emergency flight home.)

Think of it as my Groundhog Day moment.

But I won’t leave you hanging while I’m out soaking up new sights and vibes. I’ll be sharing my journey on Instagram – daily snippets of different skies and fresh perspectives, sheep and sand. If you want to catch some of my mini escapades we can stay connected there. And if you want something meatier, I’ll also be posting daily original content on LinkedIn while I’m away.

I’m telling you all this because as I immerse myself in this change of scenery for 6 weeks, I’ve decided to switch up our newsletter routine. For the next little while, you’ll hear from me every other week instead of our regular weekly chats.

Think of it as a shared experiment in welcoming a slower pace and savouring each message a bit more.

I also know I’m supposed to say that I’ll have limited access to email and won’t be able to respond until I return, but that’s not true. My iPhone will be in my pocket and my Apple Watch is always strapped on and I can respond if I need to.

That said, I promised my husband that I was going to try to enjoy our travels as much as possible. So, I’m going to experiment with something new. I’m going to leave the decision in your hands.

If your email truly is urgent and you need a response while I’m on vacation, please put that in the subject line and I’ll try to respond to it promptly.

Otherwise, I’ll respond when I return on March 15th.

And really, that’s the heart of this newsletter’s theme: the incredible benefits of changing our scenery and rhythm.

Stepping out of our daily routine gives us the chance to breathe, reset, and see the world – and ourselves – in a new light.

Think about it – when was the last time you broke free from the routine to really welcome something different? Maybe taking a new route on your morning walk, trying out something you’ve always been curious about, or just rearranging your physical space. Even changes this small can give you a renewed energy.

So, in the next 6 weeks, think about how a little shift in your scenery or pace can spark a fresh wave of inspiration in your life. Do you have something in mind? Maybe it’s as simple as watching the sunrise from a different spot, or as adventurous as booking a spontaneous weekend getaway. Whatever it is, step into it.

As I set out on my road trip of changing scenery, I’ll share a few moments of discovery with you.

Call them inspiration. Call them armchair travelling moments. Either way, I know we can create joy from some new perspectives and the unexpectedness that comes from stepping out of our comfort zones.

I’ll write you in 2 weeks. Until then, keep exploring and stay curious.

TIMELY

⏳ First off, guess who’s playing Chronos? None other than Jeff Bezos, and he’s constructing a behemoth of a clock designed to tick away for a staggering 10,000 years. Why, you ask? Well, it’s his bold move against our era’s “blink-and-you-miss-it” attention span. Find the full story right here. It’s a timepiece tale for the ages.

💫 And since we’re on the theme of time (always a mind-bender, right?), I’ve got a real gem for you. An astronomer from Astronomy magazine, trying his best to unravel the mysteries of time. We’re talking the whole shebang – its origin, why it’s a whole different ball game in space, our human time perception, and heaps more. It’s like a time-travel trip minus the jet lag.

That’s the wrap for now. The next ‘Time Traveller’s Life’ will be on February 16th. Until then, keep your curiosity compass spinning!

Before we part ways this week, if you’re feeling the pull to explore deeper, to unlock the mysteries woven into your very being, I’m here to walk beside you, shedding light on the shadows and illuminating your path to self-discovery. When you’re ready, let’s turn those murmurs into a roar of personal empowerment.
